Responsibilities:
Seeking a Robot Arm Electrical Engineer to support activities on the OMES II contract in support of the 0n-Orbit Servicing Assembly and Manufacturing OSAM-1 program NASA's Exploration and In-Space Services Projects (NExIS) division.
This position is located at NASA Goddard Space Flight Center (GSFC) in Greenbelt, MD.
OSAM-1 is a robotic servicing mission designed to refuel a Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellite.
It contains 3 elements:
the Flight Element comprised of the OSAM-1 Servicing Vehicle (RSV) and development testbeds, the Ground Element comprised of the systems required to conduct RSV operations and the supporting networks and facilities, and the Launch Element comprised of the Launch Vehicle and supporting facilities and services.
NExIS is responsible for the design, engineering, development, test, and operations of the OSAM-1 Mission through an integrated team at GSFC.
The Servicing Payload design, development and RSV integration will be conducted at GSFC.
Job Description:
The engineer will support the OSAM-1 Robot Arm team.
The OSAM-1 Robot Arm Team supports the actuator build and test activities.
Job duties include:
Lead for Safe To Mate, functional and verification procedures.
Review and disposition nonconformancesManage schedule associated with FTSE and RPA.
Provide additional guidance for technical concerns and priority to the Harness LeadImplement and verify Robot Arm Level 5 Electrical requirementsCoordinate component and support system analysis, including EMI, to support arm build and test including FTSS / Flex / RPAs / Motors / InductosynsDesign / drawing / schematic review and peer review coordination of FTSE, RPA, Flex Circuit to closureCompile content for electrical portion of LTU TRR
Qualifications:
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND
Experience:
Must be a US Citizen Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, or closely related field with 10
years of related experiencePrevious role as an avionics box lead desiredStrong proficiency in resolving technical and schedule issues in order to ensure that deliverables are met on scheduleProficiency in advising management, inside and outside own organization, on system architecture, technical results, or risk.
Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
