Electrical Engineer

An employer is looking for an Electrical Engineer in the Greenbelt, MD area.
This individual will support NASAs Plankton, Aerosol, Cloud, ocean Ecosystem (PACE) mission, currently in the design phase of mission development as part of a program integration team.
This team will be involved in the formulation, design, development, fabrication, integration, testing, verification, and operations of space flight and ground system hardware, including development and validation of new technologies to enable future space and science missions.
Additional responsibilities include:
serve as the electrical co-lead that works with the senior Goddard Space Flight Center (GSFC) electrical engineer.
Provides the technical expertise to perform and direct the analysis, design, modeling, simulation, and specification of electromechanical systems in response to task requirements.
Interprets system level requirements as they apply to the development of electrical systems and components and identifies design alternatives.
Performs trade-off studies, error budget, sensitivity, reliability, failure mode and worst-case analysis to determine the optimum approach for the design, and to predict performance of the system for the expected operational and environmental conditions.
Performs test and anomaly investigation for flight control assemble motor drives and control system electronics.
Supports the development of models that describe the behavior and performance of the actuators and sensors, together with the associated controller, drive, command, and telemetry electronics that are required for the analysis and design of the control system.
Designs or performs test sequences to measure and characterize the performance of electrical components and systems, and, subsequently, analyzes and interprets the test results and prepares summary reports.
Performs testing on reaction wheel assemblies.
Performs wide range of engineering design work including system level design and systems architecture, detail analog and digital electronic design, and control systems analysis and synthesis.
Minimum Requirements10
years of experience in Electrical EngineeringBachelors degree in related fieldStrong past experience with electrical systems in drive and control electronics for powered mechanisms or devices.
Experience with mapping of high-level control system requirements into electrical circuit requirements with follow-on circuit design and testing to verify all requirements.
In-depth knowledge of electrical /electronic design requirements definition, subsystem and circuit design, layout and testing, test planning and procedure development, subsystem test conductor, and electrical systems integration and testing experience associated with spaceflight electromechanical devices.
Experience with electrical principles of motor circuitry and motor operation for brushless DC and stepper motorsGood understanding of closed-loop control theory used to operate electromechanical systems Desired SkillsPrevious experience working on spacecraft.
Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
