In addition to the basic education requirement, you must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-9 grade level, which has equipped you with the particular competencies needed to successfully perform the duties of the position described above.To qualify for the GS-11:
In addition to the Basic Education Requirement, applicants must meet one of the following requirements:
(a) One year of professional experience in an appropriate field at least equivalent in difficulty and responsibility to GS-9 level work in the Federal service within or closely related to the aerospace technology specialty for which application is made. Specialized experience includes performing duties such as participating in contamination control design, development, integration, test, evaluation and/or operation to understand long-term sustainability of space flight hardware and its impact on the performance of contamination sensitive spacecraft and instrument surfaces; experience monitoring cleanliness levels and airborne contaminants in cleanrooms; experience working with monitoring equipment and techniques for vacuum outgassing and species determination; working in a planetary protection laboratory using assay sampling and surface sampling techniques; experience supporting modeling analysis of ground testing and on-orbit applications for environmental impacts and outgassing effects on spacecraft and/or instrument contamination sensitive surfaces; or(b) Completion of all requirements for a doctoral degree (Ph.D. or equivalent) in an appropriate field; or(c) Completion of three full academic years of graduate education in an appropriate field; or (d) An equivalent combination of experience and graduate education.Your resume must include a clear and detailed narrative description, in your own words, of how you meet the required specialized experience.
